Sunday Worship

Gathering together each week to hear God's Word, offer our praise, and encourage one another in faith.

Why We Gather

At Centrepointe, Sunday worship is the heartbeat of congregational life. We believe that gathering together weekly to hear from God in Scripture, to respond in prayer and song, and to be sent back into the world with renewed purpose is not optional — it is essential to what it means to be the church.

Our worship is shaped by the Reformed conviction that every element of the service — the call to worship, the confession of sin, the hearing of the Word, the celebration of the Lord's Supper, and the benediction — is a meaningful exchange between God and his people. Nothing is merely ceremonial. Everything is intentional.

We blend the rich liturgical heritage of the Christian Reformed tradition with music and language that is accessible and engaging for a contemporary congregation. The result is worship that is both reverent and alive — grounded in history, but genuinely present to where we are today.

  • Arrival: Arrive a few minutes early and you'll be greeted at the door. Feel free to find a seat anywhere in the sanctuary.
  • Duration: The service runs approximately 75–80 minutes.
  • Music: We sing a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs. Lyrics are projected on screen.
  • Preaching: Each week features a sermon from the Bible — typically 25–30 minutes — that is thoughtful, practical, and rooted in the text.

  • Dress: Come as you are — there is no dress code.
  • After service: Coffee and fellowship time follows — a great opportunity to meet people and ask questions.

Music, Word, and Prayer

Music & Song

Our music draws from the full breadth of the Christian tradition — classic Reformed psalms and hymns, beloved contemporary worship songs, and new compositions. We sing together as a congregation, accompanied by our music team. The goal is music that is theologically rich, accessible to all, and genuinely worshipful.

Preaching

Preaching at Centrepointe is expository — we work through books and passages of the Bible systematically, letting the text set the agenda. Our aim is sermons that are faithful to Scripture, honest about difficulty, and practically relevant to life in Edmonton today. We believe that the proclaimed Word is the primary means through which God speaks to and shapes his people.

Prayer

Corporate prayer is a central part of every service. We bring before God the needs of our congregation, our community, our nation, and our world. We confess our failures, give thanks for God's mercy, and ask for wisdom and strength for the week ahead. Prayer reminds us that we are entirely dependent on God — and that he hears us.
